Morinda citrifolia, also known as noni, is a tropical shrub or small tree that produces white flowers and a pungent-smelling fruit:

Morinda citrifolia is native to tropical and subtropical Asia, including India. It can grow in a variety of soils, including sandy and rocky ones, and can tolerate drought. It prefers warm temperatures, and its foliage suffers when temperatures drop below 55–60°F.

The fruit is sometimes eaten as a famine food, despite its strong smell and bitter taste. Scientific studies have investigated the potential medicinal uses of noni, including its effect on cancer growth. The wood of the plant is used for fuel and poles, but it splits excessively when drying.
